If you are in Japan for the first time, you’ll come across an unusual strain of theme parks, Food Theme Parks. Each of these theme parks specializes on one food type and offers almost every possible version of that food type to the visitors. In this article we’ll be discussing the most celebrated food theme parks around Yokohama and Tokyo.
The Ramen Museum:
This place runs based on history of the ramen; you will come across several ramen stores here. The foods served at these stores serves native flavors of Japan amidst an interior of the Tokyo of 1950s; 1950s was the time when ramen became popular in Japan. The place opens at 11am and stays open till 11pm. You will have to spend 300 Yen for admission to the Ramen Museum.
Ikebukuro Gyoza Stadium:
The theme of this place is also Tokyo of 1950s. As the name suggests, here, you will be getting to choose from a wide variety of gyoza dishes. A number of famous restaurant chains of Japan have established branches in this theme park. The Ikebukuro Gyoza Stadium stays open from 10am to 10pm.
The Ice Cream City:
Adjacent to the Ikebukuro Gyoza Stadium is the Ice Cream City. There are 10 ice cream stores offering colorful ice creams of hundreds of alluring flavors. This place also runs from 10am to 10pm.
Daska or Yokohama Daisekai:
This theme park boasts a setup of Shanghai of 1920s. If you want to have authentic Chinese cuisine, this is the place to be for you. Daska is located in the central region of the Yokohama Chinatown. Entry fee to this theme park is 500 Yen and the place stay open from 10am to 10pm.
Jiyugaoka Sweet Forest:
This theme park specializes in sweets; it offers the visitors wide variety of sweets, majority of which are of Western origin (ice creams, cakes etc). Here, you will come across 6 stores operated by the most well-known patissiers of the world. You’ll not have to pay a separate admission fee for entering the Sweet Forest.[source]
